About this deal

D&D Beyond has released a free 16th-level one-shot, Giants of the Star Forge, which shows you how to use the book to make your own giant adventures. Since it's been delayed, I imagine they're just going to release once ready. They can't release earlier (obviously) and later screws the schedule, so they'll just release ASAP - they're no longer timing it with relation to Phandelver. No new spells or races and only one subclass make this book a less sizeable offering of player options than Fizban’s.

However, in my opinion, I prefer setting sourcebooks, like Mythic Odysseys of Therosor Van Richter’s Guide to Ravenloft, to monster-focused supplements such as these. Bigby Presents: Glory of the Giantsdelves into the ancient history of one of the primordial empires on the Material Plane, the legendary giants. The book sheds light on the giants’ ordning—the hierarchical structure of their civilization—as well as their religious beliefs and societal organizations across different realms. Bigby Presents: Glory of the Giants is a sourcebook for the fifth edition of Dungeons & Dragons (5e) that is wholly focused on giants. This book explores the role and lore of giants in the D&D multiverse and seeks to provide DMs tools to better use giant in their campaigns. As is the formula for 5e supplements, this book contains a mix of information for players and DMs. Is that an earthquake? Or are massive footsteps approaching? Bigby Presents: Glory of the Giantsbrings a vast library of giant lore and character options to your game! The only issue I see with most of this information is giants will have to be a huge part of your campaign for you to start worrying about how many giants live together in a settlement versus a steading. Some giants decide to shun their peers’ gods and turn to deities outside of societal norms, seeking power to defy their position in the ordning, a grave transgression against the ordning that results in social ostracism. Fee-fi-fo-fum!

To add further variety, Giants also aren’t the only creatures you’ll run into. Glory of the Giants introduces plenty of Giant-adjacent creatures, from elementals to humanoids to Giant geese and tics. Existing Giants in the Monster Manual also get new variants to keep things fresh (many of which involve cults, rune magic, or the undead). The bestiary is the real treasure at the heart of this book, with over 70 DnD monsters to work with. Because of this, giants often do not pray to their progenitor but to his divine children and other hero-deities that constitute the giants' pantheon. The sons of Annam, representing each subsection of giantkind, hold significant positions among the religious beliefs of the various giant civilizations. Give yourself a personal Fog Cloud for a turn. The Disadvantage effect is great if you’re drawing a lot of attention and need some short-term protection. Frost giant ice shapers are physically as hardy as any other warriors in their enclave, but they surpass the others by harnessing the sheer elemental power of air and water. This extra layer of power on top of their physical strength usually leads ice shapers to claim positions of leadership among their enclaves. Frost giant ice shapers summon their power from frost rune-inscribed ice or similar objects that act as the source of some of their most potent abilities. This book follows the accounts of the prolific wizard Bigby and the knowledge he gained surrounding the giants’ roles in the worlds of Dungeons & Dragons. Let’s explore what you can expect from this sourcebook and how this colossal amount of content will grow your games! As the name implies, Bigby Presents: Glory of the Giants is a DnD book entirely dedicated to giants. It provides a detailed look at Giant society, from the mightiest DnD gods to the mundane things you’d find in a Giant’s bag. This also includes some (limited) player options and a wealth of encounter features for DMs – all in line with the book’s gargantuan theme. You learn Comprehend Languages and can cast it for free once per day, but the primary appeal here is the runes. You get 1 to 3 runes per day based on your Proficiency Bonus, and each rune lets you temporarily know a single 1st-level spell and cast it once per day for free. They function as clerics within their society, so roleplaying one with a deep spiritual connection to the power within their runes opens up a lot of opportunities for different types of encounters with them, either in combat or through social interaction with your players. They could be antagonistic from the start, or perhaps they could be open to sparing the tiny lives of your little band of adventurers, if they’re able to aid them in some way.
