We reviewed the 8-quart/ 7.6-liter model which measures 14.5 x 13.5 x 14.8 inches/ 36.8 x 34.3 x 37.6cm (h x w x d) and is a similar size to other large capacity multi-cookers we’ve reviewed, but as we've already mentioned it’s also available as a 6-quart/ 5.7-liter option, and in the US and Australia, there’s a smaller 3-quart/ 3-liter version available if you have a small family or you’re short on space. Not to mention, it comes with many different recipes for you to try. So you can cook almost everything in this versatile addition to your kitchen. The catch is that you don’t even have to stand next to it as it cooks; the efficient gadget will handle everything on its own. The recipe booklet, on the other hand, was a little less impressive. The photos accompanying the recipes weren’t very attractive, and it was clear the recipes weren’t designed for that particular Instant Pot (some even had instructions for stovetop pressure cookers). The Instant Pot app also has more than 1,000 recipes to choose from, but none seemed particularly appealing. The Duo does everything you can do with 7 other appliances: pressure cooker, sauté pan, steamer, slow cooker, rice cooker, food warmer, and yogurt maker. Clear the clutter from your counter and do it all with just one tool.

Our one gripe with the Duo Crisp is that, unlike Ninja, Instant Pot doesn’t provide in-depth instructions or detailed recipe booklets with its products, meaning you’ll have to figure things out as you go. Aside from a little trial and error though, the relative economy, range of features and top-drawer performance of the Duo Crisp with Ultimate Lid all make it our overall favourite product from the brand – and one of our favourite multi cookers currently available. The Instant Pot Duo Series uses the latest 3rd generation technology with an advanced microprocessor that monitors the pressure and temperature, keeps time, and automatically adjusts heating intensity and duration. Even the volume of food is taken into consideration, ensuring that your meals turn out perfectly, every time. Some multi cookers, such as the Instant Pot and Tefal All-In-One, can also pressure cook. These are a good option if you cook a lot of meat joints and want to achieve slow cooker-style tenderness, but don’t have time to wait around. Speaking of annoying sounds, the pot makes 10 loud beeps when it’s done. There’s an option to turn the sound off by pressing and holding the “-” button for three seconds, but we wanted at least some audio alert when our food was ready—just not one that was so incessant. The trouble is over because it can cook up to five different dishes at once. Just put the ingredients in the cooker and program it according to your wish. The steamer will allow you to prepare fresh vegetables within the span of 3 minutes and the potatoes can be perfectly steamed within 15 minutes. The stew will simply take an hour, and boy will your Greek yogurt taste good! What a great time saver you have in your kitchen, right? It’s a dab hand at cooking rice, too, and has a number of preset functions to help you get it just right. There was no burning or crusting at the bottom during cooking and, in our white rice test, we had beautifully fluffy rice for three in 24 minutes. This is a little longer than it would typically take in a dedicated rice cooker, but that’s a small price to pay for decent rice in a multifunction cooker. What could be improved? The yogurt function is the one program that we really found useful. Since the process for making it is always the same, the default times and temperatures don’t need to be changed. When pressure cooking, choose between low and high pressure and for all other programs there are three settings to choose from: less, normal or more - with a table in the instruction manual detailing what each setting is designed to achieve. It’s also simple enough to adjust cook times using the plus and minus buttons on the front so you can customize each setting to suit your requirements. Imagine a day when all your friends are coming over to your house to taste the delicious rice you cook or try the yummy pasta everyone has been talking about lately. You don’t have time and need to cook multiple dishes at once? Not a problem. The instant pot 7-in1 is here to rescue you. Results seemed the same on a few tries, despite reducing the water content. In this case, you may need to manually adjust the cooking time to your preferred setting.
