About this deal

During a visit to the stinky lake he wanders off and is followed by Cornelius, a know-it-all, chatterbox warthog who he finds quite annoying. They fall into what they think is a sinkhole, where they find a grumpy, old lion called Milus.

I enjoyed this book because it was really funny in some of the parts of the book. I particularly liked the character Brutus because he was the funniest character in the book. The book did seem realistic because of all the facts, but not Julius, his brother, mum, friends, Imhotep and Hadrian who were all fictional. I would love to read more books by this author because I really enjoyed The 'Entangled with the Egyptians' book because it was extremely funny and I really enjoyed reading it.I enjoyed this book so much I went out and bought the first book in the series (It was the last one on the book shelf.)

I enjoyed reading Julius Zebra because of all the amazing illustrations and words. My favourite character is Julius. I love the words he used for Julius's actions. I think the history about Heter is not true but the tomb of Cleopatra has been found and Cleopatra was true. I thought this book was fabulousJ. My favourite scene was when they were on the ship because it was dramatic and intense. I thought the history in the book was a little bit true and it makes me want to know more about ancient Egypt. It makes me want to read more of Gary Northfield's books. You may have already met Julius Zebra from previous books. He was a gladiator champion and rebel of the Roman empire. He made sure the Romans left Britainia and freed animals gladiators from amphitheatres across Europe. I would want to read more books from this author if his other books are like this. Julius Zebra is a very good. It’s funny and teaches you a lot about history at the same time. This is a funny and interesting book ideal for anyone aged 6-12 who likes a good story, embedded with facts from the real world .While I have given this a top score, this is because it will have appeal to a KS2 readership, and is funny. I did think it could have been improved however. The first person might have worked better than a third person narrator, I expected to hear Julius talking to me directly.

I particularly liked the character Cornelius. This is because he was brave, kind and helpful and whenever one of the animals in the book needed help or comforting, Cornelius would be there in a jiff! Podarí sa mu poraziť slávnych gladiátorov a vybojovať si svoju slobodu?I would recommend this book because it is adventurous especially when Julius goes on a boat from Rome to Britannia. I would recommend this book for people at school who are learning about the Romans because it would teach them more about Roman history and life. I learnt that in Britannia they also had arenas and in the arenas animals fought against animals. The book made me want to find out more about the Romans and Celts. He also illustrated the children's books Henry VIII Has To Choose and Sleeping Beauty: 100 Years Later, for Franklin Watts. Welcome to the world of Julius Zebra. He is a cranky teenage zebra heading for the waterhole with his mom and friends, just like all of us, when out the blue a lion comes and shouts for all to head for the hills due to an unknown threat. As it turns out the threat is a Roman battalion collecting animals to provide entertainment at gladiator bouts. From there to a cliff-hanging end of the book, Julius and his friends do their best to please Emperor Hadrian and survive run-ins with the gladiators.
