About this deal

Shiver is a collection of short horror stories that really highlight why Junji Ito is considered to be a master of the horror genre. Smith, David (February 11, 2023). "Junji Ito Maniac: Disturbing, Unsettling, And A Little Bit Normal". Kotaku Australia. Archived from the original on March 30, 2023 . Retrieved March 30, 2023.

Fantasista (February 22, 2018). "The Horrifyingly Beautiful Junji Itō: Collection Exhibit at ACG_Labo - Manga Planet". Manga Planet. Archived from the original on November 11, 2019 . Retrieved February 20, 2019. McWhertor, Michael (September 27, 2015). "Silent Hills had another awesome creative talent: horror manga master Junji Ito". Polygon. Vox Media. Archived from the original on August 2, 2022 . Retrieved September 27, 2015. Collects: Red String, The Gift Bearer, The Bridge, The Circus is Here, Beehive, Maptown, Headless Sculptures, Dying Young, Scarecrow, and The Will What if fish had legs and started walking out of the ocean? This long-form story details what happens when the fish invade the land and begin to cause havoc. After a while, the tale evolves from a creature feature to incorporate body horror and nauseating artwork. Hanging Blimp” merges the creepy with the absurd as giant heads with nooses fly through the air, hanging people and floating away with them.Collects: Blood-Bubble Bushes, Unendurable Labyrinth, The Reanimator's Sword, The Will, The Bridge, The Devil's Logic, and The Conversation Room A woman walks alone at the foot of Mount Sengoku. A man appears, saying he has been waiting for her, and invites her to a nearby village. Surprisingly, the village is covered in hair-like volcanic glass fibers, and all of it shines a bright gold. At night, when the villagers perform their custom of gazing up at the starry sky, countless unidentified flying objects come raining down on them—the opening act for the terror is about to occur.

volume collection of Junji Ito's Short Stories. Includes all the short stories in the Museum of Terror Collection as well as some newer stories. These are the volumes upon which Viz Media bases their English releases ( Junji Ito Story Collections).Another horror anthology by Junji Ito. I really enjoyed maybe 3 or 4 out of the 13 tales, and thought most of the others were just decent. I actually tend to like Ito's sad stories more than his pure horror stories. As such, Earthbound, Roar and Death Row Doorbell were my favorites. The title story, “Smashed,” is just plain weird. I mean that in the best, most loving way possible. The Long Dream (from The Story of the Mysterious Tunnel,トンネル奇譚 Ton'neru kitan), a story about a man who claims that the length of his dreams are becoming longer and longer and about how he begins to change as his dreams extend farther and farther.

Originally published as Travelogue of the Succubus, Sensor is Junji Ito’s take on cosmic horror. It involves cults, a omnipotent being, and more familiar elements of Ito’s work like body horror and obsession. Collects: The Soichi Front, Soichi's Beloved Pet, In the Valley of Mirrors, Anything but a Ghost, Library of Illusions, Songs in the Dark, and Splatter FilmThe others had elements I liked in fairly average stories. Hanging Blimp, Marionette Mansion and The Long Dream are the unique stories I mentioned earlier - nobody else could come up with killer ghostly blimps that try to hang you while wearing a giant mask of your head! And Marionette Mansion is insanely goofy in concept, while The Long Dream is pure weirdness. And yet, as inventive as they are, they’re less scary because they’re so strange, verging on the comedic. I won’t go into details in case anyone’s worried about spoilers so I’ll just say that some of the imagery in these three stories just made me laugh. Collects: Assassins, Hair, Adopted Daughter, Little Finger, Boy, Moromi, Babysitter, Gathering, Passing Demon, Top Model, and Old and Ugly Sato, Zenboku (August 12, 2000), Oshikiri (Horror), BigMaster, Omega Micott Inc., TV Asahi, archived from the original on May 7, 2021 , retrieved September 20, 2022 And Ito is about ideas at least as much as he is visuals. Take the opening story, “Used Record,” for instance. There's really no strong visual inherent in the concept, but the story works beautifully nonetheless. Ito began to draw manga at the age of 4, taking inspiration from the works he read in magazines. He continued to draw as a hobby until he became a dental technician in 1984, where he struggled to find a balance between the two. [6]
