Robotic King Kong to star in stage musical". CBC News. September 16, 2010. Archived from the original on September 19, 2010 . Retrieved September 17, 2010. Thankfully, the author removes the stupid scene of Kong skating around on the ice in Central Park that was in the movie. to the King Kong character killed these plans. Comic book artist and King Kong fan Arthur Adams, lamented years later in an interview published in the book Comics Gone Ape by Michael Eury: "Well we talked about that. The rights were a horrible mess. Dark Horse couldn't find a way to do it. Someone held rights for the music, someone for the movie, someone for the story, and were ready to sue each other whenever anyone wanted to do anything with it". [34] Asmus & Magno Take a Monstrous Trip with "Kong of Skull Island" ". Comic Book Resources. 8 April 2016. Archived from the original on 9 April 2016 . Retrieved 8 April 2016.The 2005 Modern Library edition(s) is probably the best version to get. Not only is it a more recent printing, but it contains both an introduction by Merian C. Cooper biographer Mark Cotta Vaz and a preface by Greg Bear. Both contain a lot of interesting information about author Lovelace and the writing of the book. Unfortunately if I have one complaint about this edition, it's that the information about the author is buried amidst the usual regurgitated stories about the making of the movie and focuses way too much on the two men it shouldn't: Merian C. Cooper and Edgar Wallace. He travelled around South Africa reporting on the action and his dispatches acquired a significant following in Britain. Like most simians, Kong possesses semi-human intelligence and great physical strength. Kong's size changes drastically throughout the course of the film. While creator Merian C. Cooper envisioned Kong as being "40 to 50 feet tall", [44] animator Willis O'Brien and his crew built the models and sets scaling Kong to be only 18 feet (5.5m) tall on Skull Island, and rescaled to be 24 feet (7.3m) tall in New York. When he was a boy, he wanted a real trumpet for his birthday, but he got a toy plastic one instead. He says his book, Gorilla, was partly based on that experience. Twenty-two months after Sportcoat shot Deems, Sportcoat passes away. Deems is now playing pro-ball. Sportcoat knew that he would drink again, so he decides to go to the harbor instead where Hettie killed herself and walk into the water. [63] A pseudo-documentary about Skull Island that appears on the DVD for the 2005 remake (originally seen on the Sci-Fi Channel at the time of its theatrical release) gives Kong's scientific name as Megaprimatus Kong [17] ("Megaprimatus", deriving from the prefix " mega-" and the Latin words " primate" and " primatus", means "big primate" or "big supreme being") and states that his species may be related to Gigantopithecus, though that genus of giant ape is more closely related to orangutans than to gorillas. Sister Gee thinks it was from Jesus, and perhaps that’s a valid interpretation in this case. Any of the alternatives (Sportcoat? Elephante? The Federal Government?) don’t make sense for various reasons. Sportcoat — with what money? Elephante — why would he stop? The Federal Government — why would they stop after Sportcoat’s funeral? In the 2017 film Kong: Skull Island, Kong is scaled to be 104 feet (31.7m) tall, [53] making it the second largest and largest American incarnation in the series until the 2021 film Godzilla vs. Kong, in which he became the largest incarnation in the series, standing at 337 feet (102.7m). [54] [55] Director Jordan Vogt-Roberts stated in regard to Kong's immense stature: In his first appearance in King Kong (1933), Kong was a gigantic prehistoric ape. [43] While gorilla-like in appearance, he had a vaguely humanoid look and at times walked upright in an anthropomorphic manner. [37]

In the film, Kong falls off of the Empire State Building, while in the novel he jumps off to grab at one of the airplanes, fighting to the end. By and large it was competent writing, though nothing spectacular. It was a decent rendering of a movie script, I'd say. The description was very sparse all throughout; hardly any of the characters got even basic description done on them, for example. This wasn't necessarily a bad thing per se, as perfectly good writing can be done with description that sparse, but in my particular case I tend to like at least a bit of basic description done on people to help me imagine them. I hope that people give this book a shot. I should warn you it’s not the easiest read initially, as the story feels a bit chaotic at the onset, but once you get a handle on his writing style and basic plot, it’s really not a difficult read. It’s also very funny in parts and written with a lot of warmth and compassion.
