On the downside, it doesn’t have weather sealing, and the battery life is about a third of the 80D’s. So far the quality is amazing, the sound can finally be monitored and the focus is tracked without the need to manually adjust it. Between the two, I would tend to pick the 80D if you want a more rugged and advanced control layout, while the Sony would win if lightweight is a bigger priority. The 80D also has only a single memory card slot, which is something that will turn away a certain segment of photographers (namely people who shoot weddings or similar once-in-a-lifetime events, where a single slot might not provide enough peace of mind). The truly noticeable differences comes in certain areas of professional work, and in certain lens applications where each company has their strengths.

The new Wacom One 12 pen display, now in its second generation, offers photographers an affordable option to the mouse or trackpad, making processing images easy and efficient by editing directly on the screen. The 80D also inherits Canon’s 7,560-pixel RGB+IR metering sensor that impressed us on the 750D and 760D; yet another improvement on the 70D’s older 63-zone dual-layer sensor. People keep complaining it only got a silver but I'm surprised it did that well considering the Af performance if I'm honest. EOS 80D excels at sports, portraiture, landscape, street, travel and low light photography – as well as serious movie making, thanks to innovative technologies that help you achieve stunning results in any situation.Ten years ago Canon was a leader in digital photography, now the best DPR can say is that the newest Canon is better than the previous Canon. Compared to its predecessor, the 70D, the Canon 80D adds a few noteworthy features that many photographers will find valuable. Some of my software rejects H264 mov files only because of extension, not looking for real video properties.

And for me - my personal average score for these cameras is zero, but I admit that the sony sensors are powerful and state of the art. That said, we do get the advantage of Canon’s new-ish five-axis image stabilization system for shooting handheld footage and specially designed for video. To take it one step further, Canon has introduced continuous autofocus (AI Servo) in live view mode.I had Canon 600D and I can confirm that Canon 80D is excellent camera for enthusisast photographers.
