About this deal

Well, I thought I'd really like this, but it was a little dull and there were lots of things the author didn't address.

She was leaning out over a backwater part of the Thames River near Kew Gardens, probably to get chestnut buds to take back to her studio and draw. Every thing on every tree and bush was outlined in silver tracery against the sky; some of the dead grasses and seed-vessels growing by the road-side were specially beautiful; every detail of them sparkling with frost crystals in the sunshine. I was very interested in reading about the life of this painter and illustrator, who we are familiar with through her Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady.Ernest left for the studio at St James's Palace and Edith said that she would probably go down to the river later to see the University crews practicing. Clean, crisp, tight and bright with no reading wear, no marks to text, no tanning or other visible faults. VG++* Jacket condition: Colour illustrated dust wrapper showing feeding chicks in a family of willow warblers painted by the author. I was absolutely charmed by Edith Holden’s The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady, which were compiled throughout 1906 and not published until 1977. A previous owner's signature and small address label on the verso of the title-page (both from an owner of the heritage house and property, Throsby Park, in Moss Vale NSW) otherwise very good in very good dustjacket.

Her entry three days later begins: ‘The last few weeks, our own and our neighbours’ gardens have been haunted by a very curious Robin. It is thoughtfully reproduced in it's original diary form which adds authenticity to this charming, historical and informative book.If you are still wondering how to get free PDF of book The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady by Edith Holden. At the Countess's studio in St James Palace the Smiths associated with leading artists such as Sir George Frampton, sculptor of the statue of Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens, and royal visitors such as King Faisal of Arabia. Edith was born in 1871; she and her two younger sisters, who were also very talented, studied at the prestigious Birmingham School of Art, and were encouraged to follow their interests as much as was possible.Web icon An illustration of a computer application window Wayback Machine Texts icon An illustration of an open book. I have wanted to read Edith Holden’s The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady for many years now, after seeing some effusive reviews before I had even entered the world of blogging about literature. I suppose, to look on the bright side, I can say that once I made myself finish reading it, the time went by quickly!
