If you are going to use a machine that makes a hot drink with opaque plastic pods and a tankful of water, why not go full tilt? The main difference is the size of the whisk; Salter’s is between a 5p and 10p in size, it’s not big enough to whisk though the chocolate shavings effectively, which means you’re left with milk speckled with chocolate instead of seamlessly blended through, and a melted mess at the bottom of the jug.

The cups add to the value but don't have handles, so not ideal for the youngest kids but otherwise perfect to warm your hands on. Our semi-skimmed milk was surprisingly less frothy, but provided enough hot, thick foam to top an espresso or hot chocolate. There's no guidance on how much so you'll need to try various quantities to find the right blend for your favourite drink.
