About this deal

I used automatic white balance and program exposure, and all shots were hand held at the widest zoom setting.

However, there are also plenty of differences between the two models, especially in terms of camera and imaging features. FUJIFILM MyFinePix Studio is an easy-to-use photo editing and management software for owners of FUJIFILM cameras. With that big handgrip and the large thumb-grip area it feels like a much larger camera, but the light weight and the position of the controls mean that it’s perfectly possible to operate it one-handed without any real loss of stability. For low-light photography the S5600 has one of the brightest AF illuminators I’ve ever seen, and is capable of focusing quickly and accurately in total darkness at well over the four metre flash range. What it does have is the usual Fuji F button, which provides a small second menu for adjusting image size and quality, ISO setting and colour mode (standard, vivid or monochrome). There are also a number of other features that would normally come only on a camera costing considerably more. in CCD rather than Fuji’s own SuperCCD technology, and so it does suffer from some high-ISO noise, but pictures are still good up to 800 ISO, which is a pretty fair performance.

In addition to helping improve the clarity, colour, and exposure of each photograph, the S5600's Real Photo processor also improves the camera's start-up time to just over a second and reduces shutter lag while increasing battery longevity. It works by using the onboard image processor to increase the shutter speed in poor light by boosting the ISO from 64 up to 1,600. Fujifilm is so far the only company to really crack the image noise problem at higher ISO speeds, and with its relatively fast F3. However the zoom control, which is also used in conjunction with the EV compensation button for manual focusing, is very awkwardly positioned. The Fujifilm camera features a USB port for easily storing and displaying your pictures on your computer or TV. Its body format is what has become known as SLR-style, and indeed it does look exactly like a tiny SLR. Well it looks like Fuji has done it again, because this week I’m taking a look at the replacement for the S5600, the new S5700 (how ”do” they come up with these names? ve made just the right adjustments with the S5600 Zoom to build upon the huge success of its predecessors without compromising a winning formula.

In some cases, the full size image has been reduced for bandwidth purposes, and a crop taken from the original full resolution image has been placed below it to show the overall image quality. The lens does produce quite bad barrel distortion at the wide-angle end, but makes up for it by providing tons of sharp detail right across the frame.

At 800 ISO there is some image noise starting to appear in the darker areas, and some fine detail has been lost to the noise reduction system, but the results are still extremely good. LCD Screen Resolution: 115,000 pixels LCD Protected Position: Without LCD Protected Position Interfaces Interface Type: USB 2. When flash is preferred, over-bright faces and disappearing backdrops become a thing of the past thanks to the introduction of Fujifilm’s Intelligent Flash system, which controls power output to achieve natural foreground illumination with balanced background exposure.

FujiFilm FinePix S5600 review | TechRadar

The S5600’s newly designed lens produces excellent results at all focal lengths, with good corner sharpness and minimal distortion.

One reason for this is the zoom control, which has swapped places with the power switch, changing from being two fiddly buttons on the back to a nice rotary control around the shutter button. The AF system is nice and quick too, at least in good light, locking on in less than half a second in most circumstances. Similarly, the 10x zoom is very useful and although some purple fringing appears at full zoom (under certain lighting conditions) the resulting images are by no means spoiled.
