About this deal

The speed this film gives will enable versatility for someone that carries a camera across the from day to night though. Much like Venus 800, Superia 800 has also been discontinued by Fujifilm as of 2016 – replaced by sharper, more sensitive digital sensors. Hence, in general I don’t care much about their product range, except when Fuji also decided to discontinue polaroid film.

FUJIFILM Superia X-TRA 400 - The Darkroom Photo Lab

Firstly, the film being expired and having been left in the camera for an extended period didn’t seem to have impacted the quality. However, the cyans still have a tad more yellow in them than do the other Fuji films we’ve discussed so far. Given the impressive dynamic range of this film, over-exposing it by one stop may work to fix some colour casts. The film is surprisingly true to color except the one area that, personally, I care about the most, which is skin tones. To view the purposes they believe they have legitimate interest for, or to object to this data processing use the vendor list link below. The '4th' cyan colour layer was designed to provide improved colour reproduction under fluorescent lighting, although use of filters is still recommended. To some, that’s enough to pass it over in favor of something with the word “Professional” in the name. The best thing about this is the visibility before it goes on the press, that you can actually see the image and you can inspect the plate before it goes on the press.

The Color Film Photography Blind Taste Test: Can You Figure

Gareth is a photographer based in London, working as a freelance photographer and videographer for the past several years, having the privilege to shoot for some household names. Now 10 years into his experimental journey, he is taking many a fine portrait for newlyweds, and has picked up a passion for alternative photography in all forms. This can be seen by the partnership with Xerox in 1962 which in itself was a major company for many decades. Fuji Superia’s lush greens are usually perfect for festival and outdoor scenes, but Venus 800 is a slightly more muted, cool affair. Note: If you are planning to expose this film for longer than 4 seconds, Fujifilm recommends adding an extra stop to compensate for the reciprocity failure. For information on how to unsubscribe, as well as our privacy practices and commitment to protecting your privacy, please review our Privacy Policy. If you’ve not heard of Venus 800 before, you might be forgiven – it’s only been available to the Japanese market, and was sadly discontinued in May 2019. I think Fuji Superia 400 could be a great option for projects that might not be completely important. Let’s find a little bit about the film and then how I found the experience of shooting a set of fast colour negatives. This film makes images that look downright pro, and shooters looking for the lo-fi charm of cheap film will more than likely be disappointed.

Fujifilm Superia - Wikipedia

Fujifilm's positive thermal digital plate LH-PSE is a superb long run plate that does not require pre-heating. The ZD plates are made with Fujifilm’s proprietary multigrain technology, applying a complex grain structure, consisting of primary grains, honeycomb grains and micropores, to an aluminum support. In more recent times, for photography, they embraced digital and almost created their own niche of small compact cameras. However it is often let down by some strange hues when not exposed perfectly, and even when it is, magenta color casts tend to dominate. To me, straight-out-of-the-box Classic Negative most closely resembles Superia 200, although it’s not an exact match (but pretty close). Very versatile, the film handles indoor and outdoor lighting admirably, and when properly exposed exhibits very minimal and smooth grain.
