About this deal

Born in the edgelands where psychology, myth and ecology converge, these courses are aimed at rewilding the tired and overly domesticated psyche. She talks with animals and inanimate things and sees them as symbols or the universe sending messages.

Absolute gem of a book that I encourage all women to read - regardless of how easy or difficult you are finding midlife currently. I'm incredibly disappointed that a book that started off so strongly empowering and feminist devolved into TERF-dom.In a way, it was helped by having distinct threads in every chapter – the stories, the interviews, the personal narrative – but weaving them all together into a coherent whole could be challenging at times! The inspiration for all her work is drawn from the raw beauty, untamed spirit and primordial memory of this ancestral land.

This inspiring book came at a time in my life when I am at a crossroads, approaching the turning point of 70 in a couple of years. Menopause, like all times of transition, is a time between stories, when the old story fades and a new one is waiting to emerge.

Then almost immediately, she veers off into a discussion of how treating trans women the same as women assigned female gender at birth somehow impinges on the hard fought rights of those "real" women. Hagitude is already becoming a beloved cult classic, as a myth-infused manifesto for the possibilities for life from middle age onwards.

And if we rise up rooted, like trees … well then, women might indeed save not only ourselves, but the world. Anne is a Jungian analyst based in England, and is the author and co-author of seven books, including her groundbreaking 1993 volume, The Myth of the Goddess: Evolution of an Image, with Jules Cashford.I spoke about the process of writing it, how the inspiration came about, and how my ideas on reclaiming the mythic feminine have progressed in the intervening four or more years.

She has worked as a medical doctor for most of her life, and in various medical disciplines, including at the medical centre of the University of Nijmegen, where she developed trainings in mindfulness. I’m honestly amazed that someone who speaks out against the patriarchy and who values women’s spaces and who sees how truly marginalized women are cannot see the how her perceived threat - by THE most marginalized segment of society - mirrors the way men under patriarchy are threatened by the women they oppress. Not more than as a transition point that made them face their own mortality and thus an intro into the next elder woman archetype. The author fits the narrative they tell to their reality and comfort level, not all the women archetypes or myths to show other ways of being. She needs an editor to get rid of soooo much repetition - heard the word 'strange' and term 'old woman' in close conjunction more times than I could count. If women remember that once upon a time we sang with the tongues of seals and flew with the wings of swans, that we forged our own paths through the dark forest while creating a community of its many inhabitants, then we will rise up rooted, like trees. I was born in the north-east of England, a Celt through and through: my family and ancestry is both Scottish and Irish, and I was raised on an imaginatively rich diet of Irish myth, poetry, music and history. Looking forward to other of Sharon's book as her basic life approach is in alignment with mine that we are in a continuous state of transformation.
