About this deal

I took a look at it briefly, it looks pretty good but flipping between the two I just didn’t feel like the Dolby Vision was offering much of an enhancement overall, at least not enough to raise hell for it not being on disc. After a fourth fatal attack, Brody finally convinces Vaughn to hire a local fisherman named Quint (Robert Shaw) to hunt and kill the creature. Add in a subtle HDR pass, which now provides that little touch of sparkle – all the sun light glinting off the water now seems to leap off the screen in a way it didn’t previously – and shade (the shadows in the killer whale bite now show much more of the make-up work), and this release looks like it has a new lease of life breathed into it from a colour perspective. This is not a modern film with modern technical foundations, but the core film elements thrive on the UHD format. The Dolby Atmos track adds another layer to this wonderful surround track, emphasising what’s there, rather than pushing effects for the sake of it.

There’s nothing new here, what’s included are the same series of supplements found on the previously-released Blu-ray. outweigh the pluses, namely a movie that doesn't stray from the basics, a few honest scares, and impressive up-close shark work.Brody once again is convinced that another killer, great white shark is circling and waiting to snack on some islanders. The poster for Jaws 2, as you might remember, has Jaws getting ready to attack a water-skier who is out for a ride. Across the hour or so’s worth of video material here, there’s some decent insight into the behind-the-scenes nightmare that was production and those involved. The Making of Jaws 2– This 40 minute documentary entitled (aptly enough), The Making of Jaws 2 has some interviews with the cast and crew, this tells of the headaches it took to get the movie made as well as following a movie like Jaws.

Building on Bouzereau’s work, it includes additional stories and behind-the-scenes material (it’s also narrated by Scheider). The kids make up an ensemble cast that features Keith Gordon (Back to School and Christine as an actor and Waking the Dead as a Director) who also is featured in one of the featurettes. This, naturally, limits the range of sound, but you still hear the trademark score to let you know when Jaws will pop out of the water. There are English SDH, Italian, French, German, Japanese, Spanish, Danish, Finnish, Norwegian and Swedish subtitles available.

The dark, murky waters of the ocean have never really been reference-quality material when it comes to looking at how good your new 4K disc’s transfer is. Digitally there are no issues, the original source is immaculate while the grain is held well to give a perfect film screening; occasionally the grain becomes a tad heavy, as was always the case in darker scenes, but this just adds to the quality. Just in a streaming experience, I’ve had the worst luck with Peacock 4K streams as they often start out looking great, but for whatever reason after about ten to fifteen minutes it shifts back to SDR 1080p and will stay that way.
