About this deal

Definitely not for the squeamish, as some content is almost certainly likely to upset those with a sensitive heart. It was a difficult journey to publication, not least because – at almost the moment I wrote those two hallowed words ‘the end’ on my first draft and did a little dance around the kitchen table – there was a report buried at the end of the news cycle about a mystery virus emerging in China. I have not addressed the fate of trans men to the same extent, only as far as suggesting they do not suffer from the toxin but may hide their true male identity for fear of reprisals. The horror evoked by the descriptions of the 'first wave' is visceral, especially if, as I do, you have a son.

We recommend members be over 18, since we do discuss books with adult content, but this is not strictly enforced. Teasdale added: " Moths is utterly, horrifyingly compelling with an older protagonist who has lived through the change in the world. Add to the fact that these men are staging protests for access to more education, etc, similar to what women had to do in the past to receive basic human rights, but when applied to men it really stands out how wrong and unfair this was. Overall, glad I got it for free, good time user-upper but just needed a little more polishing of the story and supporting characters. Clearly, women don’t know anything about banks either, because there is some kind of barter system that uses paper credit slips and travel vouchers?

I definitely need more of this world, and I hope that there can be some semblance of peace found in this dark world. I kept saying I was going to put this book down, but then it shocked me again with a new level of ridiculous nonsense and I kept reading to see what it would pull next. The author takes an incredible premise and makes it entirely credible when seen through the eyes of the book's characters. We’re primarily introduced to the world of Moths via Mary – why did you choose Mary to be the book’s protagonist and what can you tell us about her?

I’m so excited to introduce Moths to a whole new set of readers as well as get the magnificent sequel, Toxxic, to the fans who picked it up early on. The roads are in extreme disrepair and after 40 years old transit hubs still exist all busted up in the middle of a supposedly affluent city. My very brilliant agent Liza DeBlock at Mushens Entertainment has secured me a smashing two-book publishing deal with Angry Robot Books for MOTHS and TOXXIC. Moths is the new dystopic novel proposal, written by Jane Hennigan, and published traditionally by Angry Robot Books (it was previously self-published). However, the art department at Angry Robot came up with this design and I just fell in love with it.

I loved seeing the story through the eyes of an older woman, a perspective we don't see enough in fiction. It's more common in dystopian novels for women to be the repressed/ inferior sex (Only Ever Yours, The Handmaid's Tale, Future Home of the Living God) so I was really looking forward to exploring this concept.

You may also opt to downgrade to Standard Digital, a robust journalistic offering that fulfils many user’s needs. This group is for the discussion and recommendation of paranormal romances and paranormal erotic romance, along with urban fantasy, science fiction, futuristic, and fantasy romance.Truly, this is a special book and I’m now going to make all of my friends read it so I can talk to them about it. Managing Editor, Gemma Creffield: “I have been looking for a book that shook me as much as The Power for a long time, so I was so pleased to come across Moths. Then, she is taken to another facility and no conclusion to her story is given despite a throwaway line at the very end that Mary considered her a best friend. As the narrative unfolds, the book takes us back and forth between past and present, relating the cause of the terrible events that eventually led to the very near disappearance of human males.

But one slip can have you tumbling to bottom, forced to live out your time as an Analog in a digital world, scraping by, forgotten and ostricised among the lowest ten percent. Sign up for the newsletter and I will give you updates on how it’s coming along, as well as additional content. This next story follows the few remaining men as they venture, excited but disempowered, out into a world shaped by women. That longing to understand, navigating the motives of others - always being kept in the dark I was completely caught up in this novel, from the first page to the last. No one knows the son that she secretly visits in the sanitorium, no one has any idea of her life before or that she even had a son. Moths is a little like if The Handmaid’s Tale and The Power had a baby, but with a older main character torn between wanting to forget the past and wanting to honour it and an array of LGBT+ characters backing her up. Definitely not for the squeamish as there is some content likely to upset those with a sensitive heart.
