About this deal

Unlike the Linux OS, the Android emulator apps are not configured by default so you’ll have to open each app and configure it manually. After upgrading the ram to 16gb 3200mhz, changing the timings of the ram in the bios from 2400 to 3200mhz, adjusting TDP to 15watts from 6-12w, and a few other tweaks here and there, I can play all sorts.

I wish they had used buttons with longer travel, possibly stacked and ones that are of better build quality that fit tighter to the shell so they don’t rattle or move excessively. However, the device sits nicely in the hands and bears a quality build, although the shoulder buttons do rattle a little. The next thing I did was restart the system into the Linux OS and have it configure the SD card with the Linux file structure. This is a security feature as it's not good security practice to keep remote services active on your device especially when connecting to unknown networks.

While the Nintendo DS runs fine on Linux, using its own build of the Drastic emulator, it does not feature touchscreen functionality. All of the emulators that you’ll need to play your games are there and there are lots of configuration options available for each emulator right from the system menu. Details about the extent of our regulation by the Financial Conduct Authority are available from us on request. All in all, the RG353V is neither a downgrade nor an incremental upgrade but rather a new addition to the RG353 line (as the name suggests) to cater to different preferences.

The N64 is a perplexing addition to a list of “tricky to emulate” because of the era it falls into, but it’s always just been a cut above the PS1 in terms of challenges and power requirements in getting it running well. I loved my time with this device during the course of reviewing it and I intend to make it one of my daily drivers, particularly for the 8-bit and 16-bit games that make the most of the iconic appearance it mimics. This distribution is very close to JELOS in terms of emulators being configurable and being lightweight, however, as custom development continues separately from the original OS you can expect it to start to diverge more. I bet there's less tech-savvy people, who love to enjoy their retro-handheld, but have problems updating there system.Q. I was using Paragon software to add, remove, or modify files on the SD card and now my unit won't boot with the card. But if you are looking to play PSP or N64 on this device and don’t want to switch back and forth between operating systems, then I recommend settings up the Android interface to play everything. Just remember to move the downloaded file from your downloads folder into the designated folder for the game system. It feels like they put very little planning into the location, and quality of the shoulder buttons used. This PS version comes in the same SNES controller horizontal form factor but has only 1GB of memory and single boot to Linux.
