About this deal

Her father worked in politics for the Labour Party and her mother worked for a local education authority. If you're not a wealthy, house-and-garden, dinner party, fashion-conscious, able-bodied cis woman in your 30s living in Britain, most of it isn't very relevant. I apply a bland moisturiser to my sensitive areas first, then smooth the Skin+Me treatment all over my face. Got sick of competing with people wanting to take it out of the library, had to keep taking it back and waiting for it to be available again.

Was lucky to go and hear Sali Hughes' wise words in person (in possibly the best-coiffed, most fragrant talk I've been to). It’s extremely natural looking and gives you a lovely golden glow no matter your skin tone, plus it’s hydrating and plumping. But I try to stick to a light cleanser in the morning followed by a serum with some combination of vitamin C, hyaluronic acid and niacinamide.I grew up with my father and brothers and was the only girl in the house, so appearance wasn’t discussed; it just wasn't a thing and I'm grateful for that. I use it to apply primer, foundation, bronzer, blush – anything liquid or cream looks better when it goes on with this, and it washes like a dream too. Journalist, broadcaster and brand founder Sali Hughes shares her beauty routine, her memories and her wisdom in My Life in Beauty, a GH series that celebrates and explores the unique nature of every individual's relationship with their looks, and finds out exactly what our favourite celebs use to look so good. It reminds me of various ‘Girls’ Handbook’ type books I had when I was young, but much less prescriptive.

Sali Hughes offers striking good sense on: home; food and drink, fashion; health and beauty; life and finances; friends, relationships and family. Whichever I’m using, I always start with a dab of Beauty Pie’s Superluminous Undereye Brightener underneath. She then wrote features and opinion columns for various publications as a freelancer including Grazia, [8] Elle, The Guardian, Glamour, Stylist, Shortlist, and Cosmopolitan. I've found it really hard to put down, much like Sali's previous books, as it's so comforting, honest and I've learned tips for things I didn't even know I needed tips for.I've read so many books like this over the years but I am yet to find one that gives any helpful or useful advice or insight . A lot of the guides needed beefing up - helping grieving friends needs more than a few paragraphs and the lists of what you need in a kitchen/etc.

She was generous with her words and time when signing afterwards and softly spoken but set in her opinions. I must have bought at least 20 M·A·C Lipliners in ‘Subculture’ in my time – there’s one in every bag and drawer. Often the only moisturisers that work on very dry skin like mine are the thick, medical or expensive ones. eelkõige kõnetas mind see seletus, et kuna ta on oma sõpruskonnas lihtsalt see inimene, kes alati kõike praktilist teab/oskab ja kõigi olmeprobleemid ära lahendab, siis miks mitte kogu see tarkus kirja panna. If I’m going out or hosting an event and want to ramp up the coverage, I’ll use the Suqqu Liquid Foundation or Estée Lauder Futurist Hydra Rescue.

Most of it was about things I didn’t need to know about due to me being old and past the need for a mortgage, abortion, or debt advice for example . It’s an extremely sheer skin booster that looks great on its own on those ‘no make-up’ days, or as a priming undercoat for foundation. The worst bits are when she gives advice on something very serious (that she hasn’t actually experienced) such as IVF. After finishing this book I am not sure what exactly it is meant to be - an interior design manual, a cookbook, a style and fashion guide. She initially worked as an assistant to make-up artist Lynne Easton for two years while looking for work experience at magazines. I took a photo of the boxes, sent the picture to my friend [Beauty Banks co-founder] Jo Jones and said "this is crazy - we know loads of people with tonnes of product. That’s why I spent two years creating my own skincare line – my friends were telling me they were confused by modern skincare. Fashion is a subjective section, I think if you like Sali's style posts on IG you may enjoy this chapter. Her recently launched skincare range with Revolution, has received rave reviews and been commended as 'the white t-shirt of your beauty routine'.
