Have had no durability issues but care must be taken with on-camera flash as hood will block out some lower areas of a photo.

As I said in the review intro, a constant maximum aperture available over the entire range of focal lengths is a great feature.
EX DC HSM lens allows enjoyment of super wide-angle photography and it is a very powerful tool for indoor shooting and landscape photography with APS-C size image sensors of digital SLR cameras.

Although I can't compare this to other UWA lenses I can compare it to other zoom lenses I have (such as Sigma 17-70) and this lens beats them hands down.Polarizing filters are not recomended as the polarisation of the sky differs too much across the frame at wide angle. Long story short, It is not a bad lens but it is no better than the much less expensive 10-20mm that Sigma also sells.

however, is fantastic for big sky photography, massively large landscapes (where detail isn't the leading factor), interior spaces, creative effects, and generally projecting scale of objects. version is fairly high in the corners (~10/100ths of a percent of frame height) at every aperture setting.
The built quality is decent and although it has some distortion at its wide end, it is perfectly acceptable considering its wide angle and plus it can be corrected in post-processing. These capable cameras should be solid and well-built, have both the speed and focus to capture fast action and offer professional-level image quality. When asked why, he quotes his understanding of photography as 'recognition, in real life, of a rhythm of surfaces, lines, and values.

Indeed, the real-life shooting experience shows that this lens focuses silently, accurately and reliably. A feature worth commenting, which is also related to lens brightness, is that the brightness and maximum aperture-value remains constant regardless of focal length used. All of our images on this page show the Canon EF version, but note that the test data was acquired using a Nikon mount lens. As always, it must also be noted that focus speed and accuracy is dependent upon a number of variables, including the camera body used, subject contrast, and light levels.Fast continuous shooting, reliable autofocus and great battery life are just three of the most important factors. Seeing it for the first time, I thought this must be rather some CX lens (Nikon 1 mirrorless system) – but no, this is indeed a DX lens (which also works shockingly well on a FX body).
