We used a pretty small palette of sounds, as we did with Disintegration, but managed to create a lot of different kinds of song with it. CD 2: Previously unreleased demos, including four studiovocal demos from 1990 and seventeeninstrumental demos from 1991, nine of whichare previously unreleased songs.

The record is the final studio album by the Cure to feature drummer Boris Williams and the first to feature guitarist/keyboardist Perry Bamonte, who previously worked as a roadie for the band, [6] as well as being the last album to feature guitarist Porl Thompson for sixteen years. The mix is better, I find the vocals a bit too forward in the CD, and it sounds harsh in comparison.

Smith says of the album: "There’s a side to the album which I had kind of forgotten, a very gentle, yearning thing which is quite beautiful.

Smith commented on the speeding up of the tape of the song in a 1993 interview: "[…] that was an accident. On 25 November 2022, a remastered 30th-anniversary deluxe edition of Wish was released, containing four previously unreleased demos with vocals, instrumental demos, the Lost Wishes instrumental cassette and remix versions. The Spanish pressing is INCREDIBLE and worth seeking out if you truly want to hear this album in all its glory.

The album's second single, "Friday I'm in Love", was released on 15 May 1992, a Friday, [23] later reaching number six on the UK Singles Chart, number 18 on the Billboard Hot 100, and number one on the Modern Rock Tracks chart. Then on "A Letter to Elise," there's similar swishing sound during the instrumental break before the last verse.

Why reissue hard to find LPs like "Bloodflowers", "Wild Mood Swings" and now "Wish" as ugly (especially the round die-cut cover) picture discs? This tracklist is so strange, but it all works out so much better than I thought it would, especially the 30+ minutes sides. Originally released in 1992, Wish features their hits ‘Friday I’m In Love’, ‘A Letter To Elise’, and ‘High’. In 1995, Q included Wish in its publication "In Our Lifetime: Q 's 100 Best Albums 1986–94", a list compiled to celebrate its 100thissue.
