I am good with reading a long book, but this one contained a lot of unnecessary fluff and definitely could have been shortened.Lucinda’s The Seven Sisters series, which tells the story of adopted sisters and is inspired by the mythology of the famous star cluster, has become a global phenomenon. I have followed this series and have read all of books in the series so far, Lucinda Riley has a knack of transporting me to whichever area or country she bases each story. In Maia’s case in particular, I hadn’t written in her voice since Book 1, which was released in 2014. The series was always only going to be seven books, but over the years, the story grew and grew, and the characters took on a life of their own. I went into this thinking this was the final book and that I would finally get closure about Pa Salt, who he was and why he adopted the sisters, but that did not happen. She manages to get closure when she discovers the man who threatened her has been institutionalized for decades and that insanity runs in his family. Furthermore the author has a rather ‘convenient’ way of simply making less sympathetic characters disappear from the plot, so that rather promising storylines come to dissapointing and unfullfilling ends.
