There is a mass of Munros to the west of the A93 and I had split them in to 2 days four and four was the plan if not the reality. While this was clearly dictated by the demands of page space, I always wondered if it gave some readers a blinkered and rather two dimensional approach to the Munros, helping to channel traffic onto the trade routes rather than opening people's eyes and encouraging a wider footfall. From Glen Quoich a landrover track wound up the hillside on to the broad ridge between the two tops of Beinn a Bhuird. These days, there is a wealth of information on-line of how to walk the Munros, as well as maps that can be used as GPX files on various map reading apps.

The four of us met at Cluanie, had a pint/coffee and set off on what ended up being quite an exhausting day. Many people look at Lurg Mhor and see it as the most difficult and inaccessible hill in mainland Scotland.In many ways this is true as with the exception of the Fisherfield Forest the problem is that the route in, from which ever direction you come in from, involves a lot of ‘false’ climbing before the hill is spotted.
