About this deal

Two squads of three highly customisable Tyranid Warriors provide an adaptable, formidable core to claim the Ark. Meanwhile, eight fast-moving Genestealers – fielded as a squad of five – act as an insidious vanguard to a towering Broodlord. Codex: Adeptus Mechanicus and Codex: Necrons are both on the immediate horizon, and each brings a new Combat Patrol box of cold-hearted logisticians who want nothing more than to snuff out biological life with their superior technology. For Boarding Action games you don’t have a ton of numbers so each loss is going to sting but that also means each model is a threat on its own. With proper positioning and smart movement you can hit your enemy at range to soften them up and then finish them off up close. Funnel them as best you can — the Grey Knights are no joke!

Now, the Ophydian Destroyers are where this Boarding Force gets interesting. You can have them ‘underground’ during deployment – meaning you don’t set up on the board at all until following movement phases and then have them pop out anywhere on the board – as long as it’s more than 9″ inches away from enemy models. This allows you to observe how the first round goes – and then you can deploy the Destroyers in strategic places, near unclaimed objectives or behind the enemy path if you want to drop in behind them and say ‘Hello there.’ However, if you already have all the warriors you need, it’s not really going to do much for you. That’s basically what it comes down to for this box, if you want Warriors, get it. If not, you may want to pass on this one. Grey Knights Boarding Patrol BoxBoarding Patrol: Necrons provides a balanced force of Necron infantry, perfectly suited to blasting and slicing foes apart in games of Warhammer 40,000 – especially in the dense and deadly Boarding Action missions detailed in the Arks of Omen series – and will save you money compared to buying the kits individually. Some people love the new-ish Voidscarred, so this might be a popular bundle option. Boarding Patrol: Drukhari Below we’ll showcase the value you get from the individual kits that comprise this Boarding Patrol. Few things are as terrifying in a confined space as a Phoenix Lord. Jain Zar leads Boarding Patrol: Aeldari accompanied by five Howling Banshees, as well as 20 Corsair Voidscarred who can be assembled as any one of two different units.

The other thing as well is the inclusion of Scarab Swarms – apparently, they aren’t usable in Boarding Actions if you have Ophydian Destroyers in the same list, so GW say. At least they aren’t on the box art though. Boarding Patrol: Necrons – Value In the enforced absence of Lord Helmawr, his heirs have started to disappear at an alarming rate. These mysterious deaths stopped at Lady Haera, his 13th trueborn daughter, which we’re sure is a complete coincidence with which she had nothing to do. Miniatures Material: Plastic (Please note all miniatures come unpainted as new – some assembly is required)

This is a great generic box. There’s no special characters and all the units inside are scary in close combat. That makes this a fast and deadly force in Boarding Action games. You aren’t going to be generating a lot of long range death here, but that’s okay! You’ll mop-up in close. The only problem? Everyone else wants in on the action, and now the whole galaxy is boarding the Arks of Omen in search of glory, treasure, or just a big punch-up. In fact, four more Boarding Patrol boxes are preparing for launch in the near future – and only one of them might be said to have the Emperor’s best interests at heart… Boarding Patrol: Grey Knights contains the flawless soul of Castellan Crowe, as well as five Terminators, and 10 supremely versatile Grey Knights that can be built as Strike, Interceptor, or Purifier squads.* Boarding Patrol: Necrons Whip through tangled corridors with three Ophydian Destroyers – frightening close combat fighters, supported by a Canoptek Plasmacyte. In their wake follow 10 Necron Warriors, armed with a selection of deadly gauss weaponry to flay the skin from living targets or blast apart enemy machinery, while 10 Lychguard provide even more melee ability, armed with either a hyperphase sword or warscythe – both units splitting neatly into squads of five for navigating tight passageways.

The Corsair Voidscarred bring all the toys from their Kill Team set, taking up the lion’s share of the points but punching far above their weight with psychic powers, blasters, fusion pistols, and a shuriken cannon. The Voidreavers deploy light with a pistol and power sword each, but have the option of switching to long-ranged shuriken rifles should you be raiding an area with plenty of fighty foes like Tyranids and Orks. The crisis deepens – Angron is loose , Vashtorr is scheming , and Abaddon’s Arks of Omen are voyaging to every corner of the galaxy in search of who knows what. The Imperium is scrambling to regain the upper hand, dispatching boarding parties in a last-ditch attempt to stop the Warmaster’s vile plans. Commander Shadowsun has bested near every foe that dared to stand against her, but the Death Guard present an altogether new challenge in Phil Kelly’s Shadowsun: The Patient Hunter . With ancient warriors and corpulent daemons confounding her understanding of reality, O’Shaserra will need to test her understanding of Kauyon and stretch her abilities to the limit to prevent an all-out schism between her forces and her allies. Gaunt’s Ghosts: The Victory Part Two (French Edition) This is a show you won’t want to miss – and with reveals this exciting, you’ll have no trouble staying up. In fact, we need some time to recover ourselves, so unfortunately there’ll be no Hang Out and Paint this week. The show will return next week! It's a bit of a shame that the Genestealers are still the older miniatures. It would have been nice to see them updated before getting a set like this. If the rumours are to be believed though, we'll be getting a new roster of Tyranid miniatures with the 10th Edition of Warhammer 40,00 this summer.
