About this deal

I have not marked it quite so high as the previous book 'Dead Wrong' but it was a very strong 3 star rating and could of easily have been a 4.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!I was about to put up the review for book 3 when I noticed I hadn't yet put up the review for book 2. However, the characterisation of some of the main characters continues to irritate me either through their dialogue (which can be incredulous in places), their actions (particularly those of the Chief Superintendent) or their continuous angst relating to their personal love lives (especially when bearing in mind how old they are supposed to be). Although this book should keep you turning pages, there were parts of it that didn't quite hang together for me. Jonathan combines his audio work with a busy theatre and TV career, having featured in over 500 radio plays for the BBC and appearing in everything from Shakespeare to Sherlock Holmes.

The students have not been reported by the university until one student interested in profiling decides she wants to get involved. He claims to have absolutely no idea what he's doing with his love life when in reality its down to him making asinine choices and then not being able to own up to them. Sadly he has a dangerous criminal cousin that only a few people know about will the link be discovered?

Our two main detectives are still having problems finding any balance between work and private life and this series of murders isn’t making it any better. I was also very annoyed with one of the couples mentioned that they didn't think something was worth reporting - perhaps had they done so this would have been wrapped up sooner.

Durrant conjures vicious killers, but didn't tell us why the killer did some of the things that were done to the victims. I will keep reading because I like the characters Durrant has created, and it's interesting to see how they work to solve the cases they're investigating. She seemed to be more of a sounding board and a conscience telling him what to do in his personal life. I have no idea how she keeps track of who is where doing what, and I didn't try to keep track myself, but the story flowed really well.

She has been married forever, has two grown up daughters, five grandchildren and one great grandchild. We have suspicious deaths, it starts with a woman's body being found in the back of a car after a road traffic accident involving a pile up, however, its not all straight forward and more deaths are revealed along the way.
