About this deal

Kaweco ballpoint pens stand out from the crowd with their near silent push mechanism (which uses a special heart-curve), and the Sport range’s chunky hexagonal shape. Unlike some other pocket/travel fountain pens I looked at, which require the cap to be screwed to the back of the pen for posting, the Kaweco caps just needs to be pushed on, while it is screw-on to close the pen. The affordable resin model comes in a huge range of colours from the Classic Bordeaux to the transparent Ice and Skyline mint. Kaweco was founded in 1883 as the Heidelberger Federhalterfabrik (Heidelberg dip pen factory) with the Kaweco name being first used in 1889. The ballpoint is generally regarded as the worst pen in the Kaweco series, not because it’s a bad pen but rather that it’s a less desirable purchase than the gel roller or fountain pen.

Finally, I smoothened the writing surface of the nib on increasing fine polishing pads (starting at 8000 then 10k and finally 12k). In the 1930s Kaweco created the Sport line of chunky hexagonal pens which became an enduring classic. Available as ballpoint pens, fountain pens, gel pens, and mechanical pencils, these writing instruments are weighty yet well-balanced, perfect for those who prefer more substantial tools. Other than that, I agree that it is a substantial yet comfortable pen and it has a great design (IMHO much better than its clones).I know that this is a bit of a zombie post, but I would recommend adding something about how different cleaning materials might react with different pen materials (ammonia, isopropol alcohol, etc). Also, I had noticed that several users/reviewers of the Kaweco Sport series pen had mentioned that the nibs are a bit hit or miss, some a great out of the box, others not so much. The chunky yet elegant design is also practical, as the octagonal cross-section lets the pen sit flat on a table without rolling away. These weighty pens are even more substantial than aluminum Sports, but they are just as well balanced in the hand.
