About this deal

It did what it said on the box, it did remove the unwanted colour although I personally felt some were left behind. Really good but…Although I was happy with the results I wasn’t at all happy or comfortable with the process. Luckily the color I was left with was good so I didn't feel the need to go over it with another semi-permanent. As you can see with the before and after photos the color I have been left with is not wildly different however it has removed some of the deeper red tones that were in my hair. I've used a few colour removers before and the main thing I didn't like about them was the smell, horrible rotten old eggs, however I am very pleased to report that this does not smell as bad, not amazing but more lemoney than eggy which is great.

Many reviews have claimed that the product worked very well for them, lifting previous dye jobs with ease. Whilst it did lift the black, it left me nowhere near my natural hair colour, but more of a slightly darker auburn shade. Here are some hot tips to ensure it works for you, some people have written the hair had gone darker or nothing happened, you need to ensure your follow the instructions strictly. I'm talking natural dark brown hair that has been dyed dark reddish brown, bluish black, greenish black, and really needed a refreshen up. It did remove all the build up of dyes, leaving me with undamaged virgin hair, it was great, it didn't do anything to my purple streaks but I wasn't fussed.

I would recommend going to the hairdresser and would not use again, to damaging/drying to my hair, took a couple months to repair my hair. I used this on my blue black hair I have been dying for 3years now, when applying the solution I thought it wouldn't work as it was like applying water to your hair but ended up turning out that nice the colour I'm keeping it the colour it is. I will have to do it again because some parts are dark Brown but considering how much back hair dye was on my hair it has done an amazing job. I've been using box dyes for years and only by looking at my roots did I know what my natural colour was. On her hair was bleach from a previous ombre, over that 2 semi permanent dyes (To darken her ombre hair) and then a permanent hair colour which was 3 shades darker than her hair(All over tint). For reference I used the MAX STRENGTH version which is the red box and not the regular strength (Yellow box). Once you've applied your colour remover, rinse your hair thoroughly with warm water until the water runs clear. Permanent hair dyes work by expanding artificial dye molecules in the shaft of your hair so they can’t be washed out. I have been looking at this product over and over since I first saw it, I had beautiful dyed red hair and stupidly thought dying it black was a genius idea! The colour came out almost black and I made a mistake, I gave the hair colour a chance to fade for about two months before making another mistake lol.

Personally I felt it needed a second application and the results were not as good as those I’d gotten in the past with Colour B4 and Decolour Remover (Which I always favour). The manual says it won’t dry out the hair… Anyway my roots are much lighter than the rest of my hair as expected. These L’OREAL Effasol Color Remover sachets may look a little clinical but they’re renowned for their effectiveness in the haircare world. Hair colour remover works by shrinking the artificial colour molecules in your hair, making them easier to wash out.JoBaz’s hair dye remover contains a formula that reverses this process and shrinks them so that they can be washed out.
