About this deal

Despite the fake dating trope, I'd personally class this more as a romance with some humour than a true rom-com. Between Ethan’s high-profile divorce, his struggles with drinking, and his grief over the death of his long-time creative partner and best friend, he's slowly let himself fade into the background. Thank you to NetGalley and Ballantine/Dell Books for an arc of this book in exchange for my honest review. With a life-changing role on the line, she’s finally desperate enough to agree to her publicist’s scheme… faking a love affair with a disgraced Hollywood heartthrob who needs the publicity, but for very different reasons. With the role of a lifetime on the line, she's desperate enough to agree to her publicist's scheme: fake a love affair with a disgraced Hollywood heartthrob, who just happens to also need the publicity boost.

They didn´t drag each other down or talked bad about each other in any way and rather supported and uplifted each other, which I loved to see! Ava Wilder’s addictively compelling debut sounds like the fluffiest and lighthearted of rom-coms, it’s exploration into the struggles of alcoholism and grief whilst trying to build healthy relationships really made.

I still want to read more works of the author but this time I was needing a feel good romance and the book didn’t fit with my expectations. This strong debut is perfect for readers who enjoy romances with intense feelings, complex issues, and steamy love scenes.

Sure, she’d worked a little in between seasons—a bad studio slasher here, a Hallmark Christmas movie there—but her last few auditions had gone nowhere. The entire point of romance novels is that there is a guaranteed HEA, so, when you come across one that actually makes you doubt that, it’s worth noting, lol. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice.Grey steeled herself for more small talk, but he just thanked her and quickly crossed to his friend waiting by the door. The second half of this book turns into an angsty, toxic mess (but in the best way possible, I promise). With a life-changing role on the line, she’s finally desperate enough to agree to her publicist’s scheme: fake a love affair with a disgraced Hollywood heartthrob who needs the publicity, but for very different reasons. What I liked was that this book also tackled some of the tougher issues that can come with fame, and the grief the main male character struggles with.
