I think it must have been the name; "marriage" wasn't really anything that interested me, much less in a fragrance. Overall, I would say this is a good replacement for the original formula as the difference between this and the vintage are not very apparent after dry down.

Even at a young age, probably not yet reaching double digits, I would sneak a spritz or 3, however, there’s no sneaking this beauty.There are other sweet white/yellow florals that I also love, but nothing compares to Amarige's sillage and longevity. She throws her big white bouquet at the end of the wedding towards the women at the reception and jumps onto a horse with her husband, the horse galloping off into the sunset with the newlyweds riding it. Please, if you wear this make sure to never overspray or even better: spray on your fingers and dab it gently. i guess spraying it twice would help as i actually sprayed it only once because some said it has a strong long lasting power hence once would be enough. Sweet but not cloying or childish, not dated (not that I care, a good fragrance is a good fragrance). I will say, it's a warm floral and smells sunny, which probably is mimosa with ylang ylang in all honesty, but I can't pick them out well individually.

This perfume has wonderful projection and sillage, I have only had compliments and women swearing to purchase a bottle when I tell them what it is. The second bottle still has the vintage lettering "de Givenchy Paris" but this one is less buttery and juicy, and more sharp. I sprayed three times at 6am (forearms, hair, and neck/shirt) and can still smell it wafting around me at 6pm! You could seriously get through the day with one or two big sprays, walkthrough, and you will smell beautiful for 10 hours. Amarige will always have a place in my collection, though admittedly I do not apply with the wild abandon I once did. I still enjoy the scent, and better appreciate it -- even it no longer sporting shoulder-pads and big hair. The violet and the musk in this gives it that old world powderiness that is very nostalgic and pleasant smelling. I first bought this fragrance many moons ago on a trip to Paris with my hubby on our 25th Wedding anniversary.
