You cannot expect the super best performance of a pair for just €15, but KZ made it work and I’m stunned. I'll start with saying that those are the best KZ buds I tried so far - ZS3 was bassy and cluttered, no mids. They’re very nicely built and belong in a group of smaller models so they could fit in most ears – but the same is true for ZSNs. SoundMAGIC E10s that just can’t compare – they sound bloated, muffled and not as present compared to ZSNs, and same goes for old but legendary Sennheiser CX 300 II. It paints a large soundscape in head but sometimes feel unnatural with certain tracks(I am used to intimacy).

The peculiarity of the ES4 is the large-tipped nozzle: it is not straight, instead it is larger at the top so that it grips eartips better.

You can set your volume within moderate and they will still provide a near absolute isolation, by cranking the volume just a bit higher the will isolate you completely from noises. Bassheads may think the ES4 falls a bit short and those looking for a near neutral will find the ES4 overly colored but for all those who just want something good to listen to, the ES4 is a lot of fun. Recent KZ offerings have consistently had a big V tuning with good extension but a pronounced spike in the treble that cuts through most of the signature. Packaging is the same we’ve come to expect from KZ: a simple cardboard box containing the earphones, the cable and three pairs of silicone eartips. I still hear the ES4 as a V (and the FR graphs prove that out as the mids are nearly 5db behind the treble and 7-9db behind the bass) but the sound is so well proportioned that it does not listen like a big V but more like a shallow V with a lively presence region. It is to punchy and is distinct(I don't like that much punch) but is still maintaining a fundamental tone, so I can tolerate. Generally speaking, I find the tuning pleasant and relaxed, with some warmth and emphasis on the upper range.
