That actually made me snort out a tiny laugh, the thought of some dude getting cold-showered via text. Wrong Number is such a fun and light-hearted romcom which will undoubtedly lift anyone’s mood after reading the first page. Besides, there were several moments I caught myself not only laughing out loud but giggling–I meant, REALLY GIGGLING like a little girl–nonstop throughout the book and I had to admit the entire reading experience was pretty pleasant. The relationships are portrayed with compassion and honesty, and the author’s note at the end that explains Hoover’s personal connection to the subject matter is a must-read.Painter’s mastery of sexy slow-burn tension and whip-sharp banter will have readers smiling from ear to ear. The writing was also frustrating for me, too similar to the author’s other books and a lot of the plot felt contrived bc it just didn’t make sense. After a ritualistic love letter burning accidentally burns down her apartment building, the newly single and unemployed Olivia is forced to move in with her brother and his roommate. They meet on a rooftop in Boston on the night Ryle loses a patient and Lily attends her abusive father’s funeral. It was so entertaining to read and I found myself admiring Olivia for being so authentic with this random texter.
