The treatment Arthur Simpson receives from the UK's FCO regarding his UK citizeneship is all too believable - if the book had been set in 2021, it would probably be even worse! More bitter than the first Arthur Abdel Simpson novel, The Light of Day, this second book extends Simpson's story and has him become an unfortunate soldier of fortune in Africa. The friar agrees and reaches under the man’s butt for the money, but instead the sick man lets out a tremendous fart on his hand. A few cars and pickups roared by on the highway, sending up sprays of rain, but the drivers wouldn't even look at me.
