About this deal

I've never understood why one of the big perfume houses hasn't taken discontinued popular fragrances and re-released them under a designer label (Jean Paul Gaultier doing a 'Homage' range for instance of old French perfumes) Its predominant notes are patchouli with cocoa, vetiver and little else. It may have some wood, but the rest are very light notes. We understand that everybody needs an affordable men's fragrance that they can wear daily without feeling guilty about using up the entire bottle in the space of a couple of weeks. This is why we have many different scents which are available at competitive prices. However, if you are a guy who likes his designer brands, then we have some great affordance fragrances available from brands such asPaco Rabanne,Viktor & Rolf, andHugo Boss.

This green cocoa structure is beautiful and not really terribly offensive either. It is possible that this fragrance was reformulated because it seems to have been extremely polarizing earlier. Also, I really find no similarities to LIDGE - fact which also might support the reformulation hypothesis. For me, personally, this is the male equivalent of ThierryMugler Womanity; completely polarising, what I term a 'Marmite' fragrance... you either love it or hate it! The name is so silly that I would certainly consider a man who'd display a bottle of "Kokorico" on his bathroom-shelf a trifle weird. "Doodle-doo" or "Kokorico" in French is a men's perfume released by Gaultier in 2011 - and this fragrance was given considerable attention because because of its bottle, its name and the advertising campaign related to it. Kokorico" seems to me to be the forerunner of fragrances like Sentifiques "Testostérone", Diors "Sauvage" and all the powerhouses whose virility often overflows buses, trains, supermarkets.

Don't listen to the haters on this one, which I respect their point-of-views. This is one that will not be off putting too after a couple minutes. Honestly, if you're looking for an easy, simple yet different going-out gourmand for mid-season, this will do the job, especially among the young crowd (below 30). Its apparently on sale everywhere now. If you can grab a bottle at a low price as I did, go ahead. It's definitly worth it. Don't rely on the bad reputation on fragrantica, sample it for yourself an mTHEN make up your mind. Personally I enjoy it, it doesnt "wow me", but I'd still give it a 7/10.This perfume is so not my style and something I would never seek out on purpose but I made the mistake of spraying it on my arm about 6 weeks ago, just out of curiosity. What could the juice inside a bottle that looks like this possibly smell like? Otherwise I cannot explain the warm spice, the dark dense low, the tender scratching, the "Kokorico" on my woman's skin exudes after an almost two lashes long prelude of watery light green, latent fruit. Kokorico is, in my opinion, a cologne of few surprises, in gourmand style, but isn't that sweet thanks to the base notes, which give a dry tone to the final aroma. It fits very well in colder climates or nighttime events. This one is dark and gourmandish with a creamy soda fountain like feel. The cocoa dominates with the fruity rhubarb and leafy fig leaf to give a very sweet and spicy feel when combined with a very creamy and organic tonka bean note that acts much like the coffee in the A Men series, giving it a strong base from which to push the other notes forward while not allowing the overall composition to get too light or soft. All this is incredibly well done here, with the embellishment of light, soft woods in the dry down but with the cocoa and rhubarb stealing the show for much of the stretch run. ok wait for it it gets better...after 20-30 minutes it evolves into an great warm excentric sulty scent!!! truly amazing like the beauty and the beast..

Ok. This one is a serious trip for me. I bought this fragrance about 2 weeks ago off someone online. Upon spraying, It smelled like the worst pine cleaner-went stale smell I'd ever smelled. I flipped out on the guy who sold it to me, not I haven't tested the original, and got a bottle of this fragrance (50 ml) for 19 euros at Sephora (well, not really a good sign for its future I'm afraid this is going to be discontinued soon). First tested this with several fragrances on release, my only recollection being it was "OK" and moved on.Aftershave is the finishing touch to any man’s daily routine, and at Beauty Base, we have a huge collection for you to choose from to ensure your aftershave sets you up for the day or gets you in the mood for an evening occasion. When I put it on my skin I knew perfectly why this rare fragrance was discontinued and that is that for the year it came out and the Gaultier standards (especially in the time of Puig) this is a "rara avis" in their army of "Le male" this fragrance can be perfectly niche, it is a dark scent with an almost organic earthy taste that opens with a cocoa-patchouli combo that lasts throughout its life, the cocoa here is not sweet, for those who do not know the cocoa beans Toasted and grated they do not have a sweet taste or smell but rather bitter and dusty, this facet here is accentuated by patchouli and a very natural and organic vetiver. I do not know the fig plants so I do not know what the smell of their leaves is (one of the main components of this essence) but without a doubt this fragrance combines that facet of cocoa powder and patchouli with a green, sharp, wild touch with an almost milky touch and not at all sweet, all this on a slightly woody base of cedar.

There are plenty of other fragrances for men and women that share similar notes and do smell similar but I suppose when there is a large following for one fragrance or another and then another comes out that's shares some likeness then there are always going to be debates etc I suppose I respect the loyalty that people show to certain fragrances/fragrance houses. The next week, I was compelled to visit the Kokorico tester again. Will it smell like bananas and rum this time? It did! And more like figs and more like cocoa once the opening transitioned into the dry-down (a 2-5 minute process.) And that squeaky note? Vetiver. I looked it up on Fragrantica on my cellphone and suddenly I could notice all 5 of the notes quite clearly (which kind of supports my theory that many of the notes we think we smell can just be the psychology of suggestion.) Kokorico" is linear and only changes slightly after 20mt after apply, where an anise-like iris (and maybe lavender?) shows presence. To my nose is a very similar floral note as "Paul Smith Man"; soft, spicy iris note minimized to the maximum. The components of this fragrance are very well balanced, none stands out above the others, all are perfectly detectable but none is the protagonist, but rather they dance in unison during the life of this fragrance that is quite linear and has a decent duration with a moderate projection, rather perfect. for night use any time of year. Kokorico is a fragrance for someone who dares to be different. Someone who wants wear a scent that complements their unique style or personality but doesn't want to spend hundreds of dollars doing so. Kokorico is definitely niche style, and I applaud JPG for daring to make this unique fragrance, but I can't help but shake there is something missing from the sultry combo of fig, patchouli, and cacao. On positive note, it's perfect for all seasons and weather conditions.
