Set five years after the events in DCeased, the story follows the survivors of the infected apocalypse who have now established themselves on a new Earth, away from the chaos.Referring to them as the "Anti-Living", Batman states that they are "stealing" life and spreading death and that it is being caused by the Anti-Life Equation and he too has been infected. Following their reunion with Krypto, the League land on the coordinates of Cyborgs signal, finding both his head and the Lasso of Truth in the process. Just before Lois is about to look at her phone, Superman destroys the devices with his heat vision, instructing everyone not to look at any screens.

In merging the Anti-Life Equation together it becomes corrupted, manifesting itself as a techno-organic virus which infects Darkseid, causing him to go into a psychotic rampage, kill the Black Racer and leap into the core of Apokolips. Adam Strange, pulled from the Rann–Thanagar War, arrives on Earth two months before the cure is found and is infected by Wonder Woman. It’s five years after the zombie apocalypse and, because it’s the last book in the series, the disembodied head of Cyborg has conveniently found a cure to the undead version of the Anti-Life Equation! Zatanna is able to stop the android, but several more arrive, as does Swamp Thing, through growing a new body.

Three weeks later, Jason tells Gordon that they must neutralize the infected in the cafeteria, but Gordon replies he will not willingly kill infected children. The Superman family tearfully reunites while Damien breaks the news to Alfred that the Anti-Living could be cured, meaning he killed Bruce, Dick and Tim unnecessarily.

Mister Miracle and Big Barda battle the duo to give the other heroes time to find the time machine, but they soon succumb to the mobs of infected.

Highfather then approaches them and offers his condolences to Scott for the loss of Barda, only for Jon to reveal that there is a cure. Back in Gotham, Cyborg completes recoding his blood with the life equation, but he doesn't know how to turn it into a cure, leading Damian to request Swamp Thing for help, as he was once a biochemist named Alec Holland. Meanwhile, Mister Terrific examines an infected Captain Boomerang and realises he needs to trace the origin of the virus. With the evacuation from the Gotham Jungle completed, Poison Ivy declares she cannot abandon the Green and Harley decides to stay with her. Phantom Stranger and Zatanna go to Paris to aid Constantine against Trigon, while Superman and Batman ventured to the bunker, where they witnessed the carnage of the Amazos first strike.
