I’m also weirdly glad that we got chapters, scattered throughout the story, from the killers POV. He was one disturbed unit but I kinda enjoyed being in his head, as strange as that may sound. Giving him a voice and a story made the horror of what he was doing more real, which only added to the success of this working as a great suspense plot.

The novel follows an intimate relationship between a woman Chantal and Jean-Marc, alternating perspectives with each chapter. It begins with Chantal at a hotel on the coast of Normandy awaiting the arrival the next day of her partner. When he arrives they struggle to find each other, misattributing their loved one's identity to stranger on the beach who upon closer examination bears little resemblance. Upon their meeting, Chantal is upset by her disturbing slightly sexual dream as well as the way a man looked at her in a cafe. Summary of Finding Your Best Identity

Wow. What a fantastic romantic suspense novel by Roberts. It was such a nice slow burn and it had everything. I really loved the characters of Morgan and Miles and both of their respective families. The suspense part was well done with the book following a serial killer hell-bent on murdering women after stealing from them and taking their identities. There’s a lot happening but it works. A wonderful book to read on summer nights. I'm also a big fan of how the author brings her main characters together. The couple enjoyed a slow burn over months, which was so well done, and gave the story and their relationship so much more depth and meaning. Loved them together.

Jean-Marc asks why she is upset and she responds that "men don't turn to look at me anymore." [2] This remark serves as the crucial instant of the novel. It reveals a self identity of Chantal that alienates Jean-Marc's perception of his lover and thus himself. The nature and susceptibility to change of personal identity is the primary philosophical question of the novel. Kundera asks whether one's identity over time is hinged on those around them. [3] He looks at the diachronic question of self in philosophy, which asks what makes your identity something continuous over time. Trinity used to be the life of the party. She enjoyed music. However, that all changed when she lost someone she loved. Now, she can’t stand to hear a single melody. Once wild and courageous, she has now turned into someone who runs away from her problems. She acts stone-cold, but on the inside, she just wants someone to love.anyways this book is basically about trinity, a small town girl who has recently lost her father, and leonidas, the lead singer in a band called x3. to complicate things further trin has sworn off music since the passing of her father, leaving her absolutely clueless too who leo & his siblings are. this is there chance of being 'normal' teenages, i mean whats the worst that can happen? 👀😶

I liked the grumpy sunshine aspect of her new relationship with Miles. And the dog, Howl is amusing. He won’t play fetch with Miles but he will with Morgan. Too cute. I liked the characters a lot, rooting for and relating to heroine Morgan a great deal, despite the fact I’ve never been hunted by a serial killer. She was a strong female lead and I respected the hell out of her for it. I loved Morgan and her resilience and authenticity. I became invested in her journey early in the novel and grew to care about her and enjoyed all the little life updates that she experienced. The small things like working as a bartender in a resort with hopes of owning her own place one day, learning to cook, reconnecting with family, and sharing her hopes and dreams.Morgan learns from the FBI that the man she knew as Luke, was not, but is a serial con artist, thief, and murderer. Morgan moves home to Vermont to live with her grandmother and mother as she begins to rebuild her life. Her new job introduces her to an interesting new man who helps her enjoy herself again as they build their relationship, but there are messages sent to her from all over the country reminding her that she will not get away forever.
