About this deal

One thing to note for people that may carry out their own service procedures is that the nut that retains the bail assembley is left hand thread.

the paddle shape could work its that grippy stuff on it but its enough to make me think maybe i would not buy them Just wondered what rods people are putting these on. Are they top end reels? My dad is looking for some new reels and I have mentioned these to him, he has 3.5lb hi's rods would these pair nicely? I've been drawn into pointless arguments over these bloody reels before and the truth is I couldn't give a monkeys, my only intention was to point out that a reel can be found at little over half the price of the affinity so according to the 'they're all the same' argument means they should cost the same that handle is terrible its a stupid shape a simple t would have been better and a nice bit of wood would have made the reel something else These are gona keep selling and selling and the price you pay new on them its gona have an effect on the second-hand reel marketDoes anyone know what differences are between the old Penn Ltd Edition reel and the new version out this summer, was thinking about buying 3 but might wait if the problems mentioned are to be resolved They seem to be just what everybody wants- and a sensible price, as your not just paying for "The Company name", which seem to have been the case for many, many years. Doubt very much the drive gear would be titanium, probably an aluminium alloy, they do seem very good for the money and if they last as long as my mates freespool Penn's he uses for smooth hounds and tope they will be an absolute steel. Ive just tried my daiwa spod reel handle, fits spot on, only thing is it got a bit of silver on, but all folds nicely, and can still use spod reel with penn handle on.

Really? God knows what people were doing to bend the shafts on the mk1, I found them strong as anything and had cats to over 60"lb on them with no damage any chance of a couple of pics Fred, and of course a few of the boxes, if there is any literature that comes with them perhaps a couple of close ups of that too.To help the reel cast further than any other Penn has fitted the Affinity LC 8000 with a long tapered spool. Forged from aluminium, this spool is able to reel line off in large, high-speed, coils. This ensures that maximum momentum is maintain throughout the cast, enabling the line reach out as far as possible – all without the risk of tangles. The spool is also slow oscillating. This ensures you get perfect line lay on the retrieve which, in turn, sets the reel up perfectly for the next cast. Everything about the Penn Affinity LC 8000 spool has been designed to get you those vital extra few meters with each cast. This is exactly what I warned people about when these came out, stating only time would tell what would happen.. Well they didn’t last long did they? Looking at the reels the stroke of the spool looks longer than the average pit .... is it 45 mm long or the standard 35mm ??? U have too much time on ya hands to b weighing reels lol but thanks 20% across 3 reels adds up if ya walkin 1/2 mile round a lake hahaha

Narrow, long spools will produce smaller coils that need less controlling that therefore leads to less friction. I wont rant about guide size or numbers in this post Love them as reels and built to last but I just couldn't, get on with QD so got shim long cast bait runners then Penn released them in bait runner typical . still use them for piking and built to last While we on the subject, does anyone know where you can get a spare spool for them, want a 3rd for some different line. Don't suppose any one knows if the spools are the same on the affinity 2s as the later model ltds in the 7000 size cheers The handles specifically the grips are the only downside I can see. If your only fishing with nice neat baiys and in the warm wether they should be fine.

Not sure there’s is really enough difference between all the modern low-mid priced reels to recommend one over the other Before anyone gets upset, I'm not saying the Penn's are as good as a Basia. Just saying that they seem to cast the same distance). Had mine a couple of weeks now, used for four day sessions and had nine fish up to mid 20s. Really nice clutch and fantastic line lay I'm well happy with mine.
