About this deal

This book deserves a high rating for not only the personal touch of the writing, but also the message that is tells about concussions. While readers may very well have heard this message before, it is one worth repeating and if even if the book helps one person through his or her struggle with this injury, then Earnhardt’s reason for writing the book will be fulfilled. When one thinks of concussions and sports, American football immediately comes to mind, but athletes other sports have risks of concussions and the long term effects as well. One of these sports is auto racing, as drivers may suffer concussions from crashes or even bumps against the wall or other cars. This was the case for Dale Earnhardt Jr. as he first exhibited these symptoms in 2012. His memoir explains what happened that day in Kansas and what he went through for the next five years, leading to his decision to retire from racing in 2017.

Außer ihrer Eltern, hat sie auch niemanden an den sie sich wenden kann, da ihr Direktor keiner ihrer Probleme ernst nimmt und die Polizei sowieso nichts machen würde. Reading this book was a very touching experience. Getting to hear the first hand knowledge and experience of my childhood hero and seeing the open, honest, and transparent story telling from early in his career, to the injuries that eventually ended it was extremely educational and enjoyable. Sadly, the mystery part of the story wasn’t interesting or intriguing. It was quite predictable but still had me side eyeing the end of the story. Aaleyah ist wie bereits erwähnt, eine unglaublich mutige Person. Manchmal wurde ihr Mut meiner Meinung nach aber zum Leichtsinn.

Why did we have to guess the ethnicity of Alyeah’s friends? I can only assume that they were Latinx and Asian American but could never fully confirm that in the book.

I hated when he retired from racing. I miss that guy. I miss the days of the beautiful #8 Budweiser car. I miss the #88 too, but that red car was special. I always thought I was a NASCAR fan. I was wrong. Turns out I was a Junior fan. I've watched parts of races since he's retired, but haven't finished watching one yet. Not even Daytona, or my favorite, Talladega. Despite the deep and relevant nature of this book, it was a pleasure to accompany Aalyeah and her friends Brianna and Mathew on their rollercoaster investigative journey. The unexpected ending is a fitting conclusion to an epic and memorable narrative. It was a seemingly minor crash at Michigan International Speedway in June 2016 that ended the day early for NASCAR star Dale Earnhardt Jr. What he didn't know was that it would also end his driving for the year. He'd dealt with concussions before, but no two are the same. Recovery can be brutal, and lengthy. If you're not a race driver, stay the hell home. Don't come here and grumble about going too fast. Get the hell out of the race car if you've got feathers on your legs or butt. Put a kerosene rag around your ankles so the ants won't climb up and eat that candy ass.”Sie ist sich in ihrer Identität und ihrer Religion so sicher und lässt sich von niemandem was einreden. I was initially drawn to this book by the cover. It’s so striking and it tells you exactly what this book is about. The Boonta Race involves the participants racing through several transparent tunnels. Boba Fett attempts to use grappling hooks to slow the White Witch down but R2-D2 uses his welder to cut them free. The racers race for ten laps as the Fromms watch. At the seventh lap, Fett damages one of the White Witch 's engines. Kea and C-3PO later find Jord and warn him of the danger facing Thall. Nachdem Aaleyahs Familie für ein Jahr in die Kleinstadt „Anderton“ zieht, beginnt für sie ein einziger Alptraum. Honestly, the foundation of this book is good - I wanted to know more about the history of town, the principal, Mr. Moretti, Garett, Lewis, and why Matthew and Brianna seemed to be the only two non-racist people in the entire high school. But that's exactly my point - I was so interested in some of these characters and plot points and I was just left hanging. What role did her teacher play in the town? What happened to Lewis? How did the operation stay secret for so long? And most importantly, what exactly was the operation?!

There, C-3PO is greeted by the old Proto Droid Proto One, who helps him down. Proto One introduces himself to the humans. Proto-One also tells C-3PO that he was abandoned by his previous masters and that he survived by repairing himself. While C-3PO takes an immediate dislike to Proto One, the old droid gets along with R2-D2 and the three humans. Proto still offers Kea to fix her broken ship while they take Jord to a medical unit. The droids leave with the humans on the White Witch. C-3PO tells R2-D2 to be careful about associating with supposedly unsavory droids like Proto-One. A medical droid attends to the wounded Jord, who has broken his left arm. Thall advises Jord to rest but Jord is disappointed. Kea turns their attention to repairing the damaged White Witch or they will be disqualified. C-3PO objects to R2-D2's idea of hiring Proto One, whom he dismisses as a "walking scrap heap." Jord is open to hiring Proto-One but C-3PO reveals that he has found another droid to help them named BL-17, saying that he found him.Trotz der ekelhaften Bemerkungen lässt sich Aaleyah nicht kleinkriegen und versucht ihren Alltag so schnell wie möglich hinter sich zu bringen. Torn between a race-at-all-costs culture and the fear that something was terribly wrong, Earnhardt tried to pretend that everything was fine, but the private notes about his escalating symptoms that he kept on his phone reveal a vicious cycle: suffering injuries on Sunday, struggling through the week, then recovering in time to race again the following weekend. For the first time, he shares these notes and fully reveals the physical and emotional struggles he faced as he fought to close out his career on his own terms. Anyway, it's a good read, and a book every athlete should read, especially young ones and their parents. As much as I really wanted to enjoy this book (well, as much as you can “enjoy” a book on such a serious topic), unfortunately it didn’t quite deliver for me. (Please don’t read further – or just skip to the last paragraph of this review – if you don’t want to read my negative thoughts on this book! There will also be some spoilers in the following paragraphs.)
