About this deal

The Genius X does command a premium for this technological upgrade and you get a little less in the box. A positive consequence is the water resistant handle can be rinsed under the tap and easily cleaned off. You don’t get grime building up as it did in the contoured rubber grips.

We don’t have an extensive list of must-have features, but there are a few that our in-house dentists feel are really worthwhile: a 2 minute timer, a pacer and a pressure sensor. These are included in all but the cheapest of brushes these days. The 2 minute timer and pacer help you clean your teeth evenlyBoth brushes offer Bluetooth connectivity, which means that they connect to an Android or iOS smartphone via an app. It should be noted, that the brush heads supplied with either the Pro 2 2000 or 3 – 3000 can differ. Most common is the CrossAction or 3D White brush head. But there are a few different options. All system components (e.g., toothbrush handle, charger, power cord, SmartGuide). You do not need to include accessories like the brush heads or refill stand. But, at 2+ weeks it falls short of the industry average which is really at 3-4 weeks. By no means is this a deal breaker when considering the Pro 3.

A bigger difference and potentially useful feature for first time electric toothbrush users is the inclusion of a pressure sensor on the 2000. So, both models come with a place to store brush heads, but the compartment with the 9000 is better than the stand offered with the Smart 6. One of the biggest differences is that the Pro 2 2000, which is the more premium model offers an extra cleaning mode. The Oral-B Smart 2500 rechargeable toothbrush features precisely angled bristles that reach deep between teeth to remove more plaque than a regular manual toothbrush and leave your whole mouth clean. It has different modes of operation like daily clean and gum care. The 3D movement cleaning system oscillates, rotates, and pulsates to break up and remove up to 100% more plaque.Oral B Pro 2 2500 N is an advanced electric toothbrush. It comes with a lithium-ion battery which lasts for 2 weeks. The round brush contours to every teeth and gums for fresh oral health. With the Pro 3, there are a series of dimples running from the top to the bottom of the handle. These dimples are far more subtle in appearance. They do provide texture onto which the fingertips can grip, but they are not quite as effective as the raised ridges on the 2000. Another slight difference is the 9000’s lovely travel case has a clip built into the lid that holds a smartphone, for using the app when travelling.

Both come with a premium travel case and a 2+ week battery life. A visible pressure sensor, 2 minute timer and pacer are built-in too. iO Series vs Genius X The front of the handle is very simple. It has an on/off button that feels solid to press. If the on/off button is pressed multiple times then it also changes the cleaning mode. It only has two cleaning modes, daily clean and gum care. I always use it on daily clean mode because the gum care mode feels very weird and am not convinced it actually cleans very well. The Oral – B vitality does not pulsate as it only cleans with 2D action and the Oral-B Pro 600 range has a slower pulsations. In fact I consider this the best value for money electric toothbrush on the market. I frequently recommend this electric toothbrush to my patients who are on a tight budget. It has all the essential features without being overpriced. Running costs For the majority of people, myself included the Oral-B Pro 3 3500 is the toothbrush to go for. It offers a balance of cleaning performance and features at a price most will find affordable.

JOKE OF THE DAY

A piece of gloss white plastic, it clips around the provided charging stand and essentially offers 2 prongs either side, onto which a single brush head can be placed. Below, is a list of models we have compared to one another, plus some that we have compared to their Sonicare equivalents. End rounding of the brush makes the brushing movements gentle. The angled Bristles helps you to clean in between teeth. It has ultra-thin bristles for extra light and gentle cleaning. A smaller and final difference between the two models is the colour of the brush handles, or more precisely the rubber grip that runs down the front of it.

However, that doesn’t necessarily make it better. The Pro 2 2500 has all you and I need to achieve clean teeth. Where the large rubber grip on the 2500 provides grip, this is now limited to the power button on the 3500. In the very near future we will have a guide that explains this all in detail. However, here is the short answer for now. Whilst the Genius is the premium brush it offers inferior battery life. Our testing has confirmed that the 9000 offers 12 days of usage time compared to the 18 days on the Smart 6.However, as noted earlier, there are various variants, which can mean the grip colour will be different, or the same!
