About this deal

Advice: If you need a basic piano with loads of versatility (gadgets), then go ahead and buy a Casio digital piano from the Celviano range (Casio AP). You may want to consider the Casio Privia digital piano range if you’re short of space and your budget is tight. There’s also Casio’s very vest pianos – The Grand Hybrid range: GP300, GP400 and GP500. But for the price you’d be better off getting either a Yamaha CLP or Roland HP piano. You trot off to another piano shop to get some more advice and to compare prices. Again you walk in and you’re confronted by a similar set up. The salesperson, like before, shows you the different digital pianos and advises you that the Kawai is the best piano, not the Yamaha, and CERTAINLY NOT the Roland. “Roland digital pianos are overpriced!”, they say. While the not weighted keys are not typically used in digital pianos, they are still used in another type of musical instruments that use keys such as the accordion, organs, pipe organ (found in many churches) and other beginner type keyboards. These type of applications don’t require the same precise hammer striking to produce the desired sound. What makes today’s weighted keys more desirable? Many thanks for your article ‘digital pianos – which brand should I buy?’. I have carefully read the article and it was really useful to get an insight of the quality and prices of different brand of digital pianos.

Thank you very much for sharing your opinion on the best piano brand to buy. I wish I knew you a long time ago before I bought mine. After looking at the different brands, I ended up choosing Casio. I thought it was better than Yamaha because it had a screen that beginners can see which finger is being placed on each note as a song is played from the song bank. For me, the term ‘stage piano’ could also be defined as ‘portable’ or ‘put-where-you-want’ piano. This is because you can place this anywhere you want in the home and it won’t be a problem to move and assemble. Even if you wanted to constantly move it around the house every few weeks you can do so. Unlike a really heavy acoustic piano that you usually need two removal people to help get it into the house, let alone consider having it upstairs in your own bedroom – a stage piano is easier because it doesn’t weigh a great deal. The weighted keys that are found in most all digital pianos are designed to enhance the overall performance and sound generation of the hammer strikes. As the technology that goes into developing the digital piano continues to evolve, the more the weighted keys played a key role. The detailed hammer action is where the digital pianos shine and they produce a sound that has been said that almost reaches the level of the grand piano. That is really high praise for the makers of digital pianos to be able to make their products being placed at or near the same level as the best of the best pianos in the industry. And yes, the sustain pedal is essentially what you need if you're wondering how in the world you could ever play that many notes at once. The YDP-S52 Digital Piano support full 192-note polyphony. Also, it features 10-high quality sounds including two electric pianos, three piano voices, organ sounds, strings, vibraphone, and harpsichord.

I don’t intend to buy a digital piano at the moment, but I’m sure your article would be something I’d look at seriously if I did decide to. I’d rather go to buy one armed with a good idea of what I’m looking at than going in completely blind and having to play all the rubbish ones to find out !! Because they allow the music to reach you straight in the face, I frequently find that these sorts of digital pianos handle the sound better than pianos that are more closed. Also, this digital piano comes fitted with speakers allowing to listen on its own. This means you don’t have to worry extra-speakers just to listen what you’re playing. It has everything you need to create that great music you have been dying to play for a long time.

SDP-2 Stage Piano by Gear4music + Complete Pack Overview

You also have the full 88 keys that you would expect to find on an acoustic piano, and the overall touch and feel is very authentic and accurate. The 32 note polyphony is always more than enough, which means that you can play a total of 32 notes at the same time before it stops you playing any more. And yes, if you are wondering how on earth you’d ever play that many notes at the same time – well it essentially comes down to the sustain pedal. If you are holding a lot of notes and paying an arpeggio up the piano, then it is possible to exceed 32 notes – but very rare and unlikely. Features Yamaha Strive to make their digital and stage pianos sound and feel as close to a real piano as possible. The sound sample they use for their digital pianos is taken from their own acoustic concert grand. Thank you for your invaluable advice through the book. It has helped me a lot in understanding the terms used for the specifications and what I need to look out for when deciding on a digital piano. Moreover, you don’t need to use the SDP-2 with the included stand. It’s easy to remove, and the lightweight and compact design makes it simple to travel with.

Anyway, so onto the sound – it’s great. It’s rich, earthy in the bass, but also bright and breezy at the top end of the pitch. The small speakers to a great job of projecting the sound even though they look like they should do a poor job. I often find that these types of digital pianos do a better job with the sound when compared to a more closed piano because they let the sound hit you right in the face. You don’t have to open a lid to allow all the best parts of the tone to strike out and project across the room. If an item can not be repaired, a similar alternative product or cash discount (as defined in this policy) will be offered STEREO RCA OUTPUT– lets you plug in mixers and amplifiers when the time comes to go on-stage. The USB output also makes the SDP-2 a MIDI controller – perfect for home recording or live performances. Many thanks for your answer; I bought the Yamaha CLP635 mostly based on your recommandations & on the fact they were at the same price. If the Kawai had been cheaper, I would have gone for it because it has more piano sounds & more features… however I had the opportunity to listen to both in the same shop this morning and I finally went for the yamaha.. The digital pianos of today are far more technologically advanced than the electronic keyboards of old. They all at some point were developed and engineered to simulate the look, feel and the sound of a traditional acoustic type piano. The grand piano is the top of the line when it comes to performance piano and being able to bring a feel and sound that even comes close to that is the primary goal of any digital piano makers.

EIGHT DIFFERENT VOICES– Experiment with eight different, high-quality voices including both grand piano and electric piano tones, organ, vibraphone and harpsichord. You’ll be able to find the sound you need for any type of music. Advice: Go ahead and buy any Roland digital piano from the HP, RD, DP, RG or FP range (you pay a little bit more for a Roland, but they’re reliable and rarely go wrong). As far as the Roland goes, the touch is on the light side, but much heavier than a keyboard. I would say that the Roland’s key touch is not far away from a brand new Yamaha upright piano with the exception of their Indonesian model B1 which has a stiff, heavy touch.
