It all started in a tiny Fisherman’s cottage (now our Brighton restaurant) where the first menu was dreamt up. There are vegetarian and vegan recipes throughout and delightfully sticky deserts with sweet,fruity Thai flavours. We do not purchase any single use plastic for use in our restaurant and where possible, we work with suppliers who have initiatives to minimise their own carbon footprint. Our teams are on hand to help you with your food choices if there are certain ingredients you need to avoid. Our lovely Thai restaurant in Oxford combines wow-factor decor – bold colours and vibrant botanicals – with a warm atmosphere and friendly service.

I’ve tried several of the recipes and have come to the conclusion that I need to put my math hat on and reduce the supporting recipes. As a multi-site restaurant group, it is essential for us to have a well-defined and implemented energy management policy that guides our operations team, conserves energy and reduces our environmental impact. Our chefs love wok’ing their magic to create new dishes and we like to change our menu at least once a year as well as offering seasonal, limited edition specials.

We have an allergens guide identifying all the allergens in our dishes which you can access via a QR code or you can ask our staff for a printed copy. Husband and wife co-founders Pranee and Andy started Giggling Squid out of a determination to bring the buzz of Thai mealtimes to the UK – energetic, informal, adventurous and welcoming. Our kitchen appliances are all high-grade energy rating A+ and above and our teams are trained to reduce water wastage, for example by ensuring taps are not left on unnecessarily.Even my very picky 5 year old tried new things thanks to their Massaman curry, which absolutely shocked me. Our Thai restaurant is within walking distance of its lovely gardens, the abbey ruins, the cathedral and attractions like Abbeygate Cinema, Cineworld and Theatre Royal.

Yes, we love welcoming little Squidlets and have a special menu with games and colouring to entertain them. If you have an up and coming booking, you will be contacted directly by the restaurant manager – our apologies for any inconvenience this cancellation may cause. Applying a service charge to the bill allows us to operate a transparent and fair system as it gets shared across the entire team including kitchen porters, runners, chefs and servers – rewarding everyone who has been involved in the guest’s experience. For guests with visual impairment we offer an accessible version of our lunch and dinner menus with clear sections and large black font against a pale yellow background.

Giggling Squid Oxford is located in the heart of Oxford’s historic Jericho area, on bustling Walton Street, with its cocktail bars, global eateries and the Phoenix Picturehouse a few steps away. The black takeaway packaging is made of recyclable plastic PP5, which is collectable by many local authorities and bigger community recycling points such as supermarkets. My mum bought this for me as part of Jólabókaflóð (Icelandic Book Flood for intensive reading time) that we have added to our holiday traditions. We use LED lights in all our new restaurants and will be upgrading older sites where possible as part of our refurb programme. For something more intimate, a table under our romantic pergola creates a wonderful date night setting!
