Hello Shirley, You could try using 1 strand of yarn for the blanket but using the 25mm (US 50) needles – I think the knitted fabric will be very lacey and not thick enough. The chunky yarn you need for this blanket can be any fiber of your choice, from acrylic to blends to wool yarn. I bought the pattern pdf but I want to substitute yarn with Rico Creative Melange Big Super Chunky which is 100g or 109yds (100m).
